Ammunition Manufacturing

Bighorn Government Services’ 53,000 square feet of production space, warehousing and office are designed for maximum flexibility, to account for the various demands of its customer base.

The building houses brass case production, projectile manufacturing, ammunition loading, priming operations, safe storage areas for combustibles, and a full suite of QC lab operations to include an indoor testing range.

The case production area can manufacture over 180 million parts per annum across most any common rifle caliber. With three separate lines and a cupping line as well, few businesses can rival the production ability of Bighorn.

The projectile manufacturing capability is roughly 25,000 55 grain and 62 grain rifle projectiles per day with capabilities for rapid expansion.

Priming operations currently can run about 80,000 parts per shift, per machine. Bighorn has three machines and has space and infrastructure for as many as twelve.

Bighorn’s loading capabilities are another area where few competitors can match the output we generate.  With three fully outfitted plate loading cells, Bighorn can produce over 300,000 parts per shift. Bighorn has plates for most any standard rifle or pistol caliber and has a well-trained workforce that has years of experience producing large quantities while maintaining quality controls.

The Quality Control (QC) capabilities of Bighorn are on par with any of the top tier producers in the industry. The in-house ballistics lab measures case pressures and volumes, velocities, and accuracy by production lot. The loading cells all have several QC checks built into the process to include primer checks, powder depth, and projectile alignment. Components and finished rounds are run through a General Inspection machine that uses lasers to precisely measure all our products, and our metallurgy equipment measures the grain structure of the brass casings. Quality and Risk mitigation are critically important to Bighorn.

The footprint of the property allows for an additional production expansion of an estimated 30,000 square feet and it all resides squarely with a designated economic Opportunity Zone (OZ).

With three case manufacturing lines coming online, Bighorn will control a large majority of its own supply chain. The few components that we do not make in house are addressed through long-term partnerships.
